Natalie Cherot, PhD, is a researcher, investigator, social scientist, and multimedia journalist based in California. She has been published in Civil EatsEarth Island Journal, Latterly, Longform, Mission & State, Pacific StandardSanta Barbara Independent, Qualitative Inquiry,  Truthout, Urban Studies Review, and The Week. She is writing a nonfiction book about wrongful conviction.

My dissertation covered the exit of Vietnamese orphans, many of who were children of U.S. soldiers and Vietnamese mothers during the Vietnam War as a key part of Vietnam War debates. I interviewed adoptees as adults living in the U.S. And examined their narratives of human trafficking, reunification with birth family, and navigating being Asian in white adoptive homes.

Post-conviction, civil rights, and sexual harassment investigation experience

I closely collaborate with clients and lawyers. I interview witnesses and produce a written thoughtful evaluation for every case that includes the context of the case, analysis of facts, and copies of new evidence I collected. I ensure that all communications, correspondence and documents are tracked, stored, and easily available for clients and lawyers. Currently completing requisite hours  for my license.
